“Family Focus: Talking Together about Parental Depression and Anxiety” is a DVD that promotes family communication about a parent’s depression and/or anxiety. The DVD provides parents and their families with assistance to understand the illness and the value of obtaining treatment, talk with their children about the illness, improve their capacity to reflect and solve problems together and access further assistance if required.
The DVD is currently being pilot tested to ensure that it is relevant and useful to families and COPMI are looking for parents with experience of depression or anxiety to participate in the testing. They are seeking people who:
- Have at least one child aged 8-12
- Have anxiety and/or depression
- Are currently in treatment or have recently completed treatment for depression or anxiety
- Will agree to complete a questionnaire before and after watching the DVD resource.
The trials are being operated by the research team at Monash University and the study has ethics approval. Participants will be reimbursed $60 for watching the DVD and completing the questionnaires.
