Hi,
I am studying at TAFE and have recently completed a subject RE people with disabilities and I was just wondering why the title at the top of this page reads ‘…for Down Syndrome students.’ instead of the less offensive ‘…students with Down Syndrome.’
We have been talking about person first language in the classroom and I have taken it on as my personal quest to try to educate people around me as to what are the appropriate terms to use. I was surprised to find it worded as such on a website dedicated to the education of awareness about disabilities. I apologise if I sound over harsh or am dramatising it, I am just very aware of it in the world at the moment and would like to know why this wording was selected.
Thanks

Thankyou for bringing this to our attention Rosslyn. I’ve corrected the wording of the article.
