Hello Carole

We (DIRC) do not administer disability parking permits. I think you will need to contact your nearest Service SA location. A list of locations in SA can be found here:

Thankyou

Hello John

The following is from the Adelaide City Council website:

Extended time only applies in permissive zones onstreet.
* If the time limit on the parking sign is less than 30 minutes, the time limit for a disability parking permit holder will be 30 minutes; or
* If the time limit on the sign is 30 minutes or more, but 1 hour or less, the time limit for a disability parking permit holder will be 2 hour; or
* If the time limit on the sign is more than 1 hour, the time limit for a disability parking permit holder will be twice the period indicated on the sign.
* Vehicles displaying a Disabled Parking Permit may park in a ticket parking area without purchasing a ticket (must purchase a ticket if parking in a U-Park or off street car park).
* Please ensure you check the signs carefully and that the area does not become a restrictive parking zone at a later time ie. “No Stopping” or “Bus Zone” etc.
* The extended time does not apply in loading zones or non permissive zones (normal loading zone conditions apply).
* If parking in a designated Disabled Parking Zone, the time limit on that sign applies (ie, no extra time).
* Disabled permit holders may apply for discounted parking in the UParks. For enquiries call the Customer Centre on 8203 7203.

So if I understand this correctly, I can park in ANY street parking, and not have to pay, as long as my Disabled Permit is showing, right? AND, I also get double the time too. So for a 2 hour park, it's 4 hours, for a 10 hour park, it is 20 hours?

Hello Paul

The link in my post above indicates that permits for the new parking scheme began being issued around March 31st. If you want further clarification you'll need to contact Service SA on 13 10 84.

Thankyou

Your answer to Naomi's question, does not say whether the national regulations for disabled parking apply in the Adelaide CIty Council area. Your website indicates that they do not apply. Even the State Government site still uses the old regulations. I am finding this very confusing.

QUERY: With the new NATIONAL Disability Parking Scheme, should this apply to ALL councils in ALL states? Isn't that what the scheme is about? Uniforming accessible parking.

Question is Ayers house car park on North Tce fall under the the same rules as Adelaide city council metered street parking, by this I mean does a car displaying a disabled parking permit have to pay for parking in the Ayers House car park.
