Malcolm has an inherent experience of Aspergers and and is a certified practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, a qualified presenter and trainer, and co-author and Australian distributor of the AAPC book “The Hidden Curriculum of Getting and Keeping a Job: Navigating the Social Landscape of Employment’.
In this newly developed interactive workshop Malcolm will explore:
- Aspects of Autistic communication including:
- The Hidden Curriculum
- Sensory Sensitivity
- Meltdowns
- Key Attributes for Employment
- Strategies for bridging communication between autism and the support sector
This practical workshop is ideal for teachers / lecturers, student services officers, disability officers and advisers, career advisors and consultants and people supporting people on the spectrum to achieve vocational outcomes and employment.

Positive Partnerships Workshop – Modbury

What will be the impact of the DSM-5?
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) is the main assessment tool for diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorders. It is used worldwide.
Under DSM-5, the categories of Autistic Disorder, Asperger’s Disorder and Pervasive Development Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS) the current exist under DSM-IV-TR will no longer exist. There will be one diagnosis – Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Autism SA volunteers required at the Doll & Bear Show, Hahndorf – 20 & 21 April 2013
Looking for something fun to do to support the work of Autism SA? Helping Children with Autism Funding – Individual OT & Small Groups
If you are eligible for the Helping Children with Autism funding Autism SA currently have limited vacancies for individual occupational therapy and small groups.
Individual therapy can be offered either at home or at the Netley clinic. Small Groups are offered at our Netley site and Salisbury East during the school terms.
Limited vacancies now available for immediate start. Language and SPOT groups, mainly Wednesdays and Fridays.

Conditions
- Each ticket only allows for one child and one adult/carer to attend and you cannot purchase extra tickets as the Zoo is closed to the public on this morning.
- Tickets are only available for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, not siblings.
- Where more than one child in the family has a diagnosis please note tickets are allocated based on gender and age, so we will not always be able to provide tickets for each child in the family.

Heard about iPads – or do you have one, but still unsure how to use one? Would you like to know which applications are useful for your child with a disability?
This hands-on workshop includes:
* Navigating an iPad,
* What is the iTunes Store, and where do you get apps?
* Compare current teaching tools to available applications
* Focus on visual scheduling, Social Skill and Assisted and Augmentative Communication
* Look at a case study (or use own example) and find an appropriate strategy using an application on the iPad

Keyword Signing
For children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, Keyword Signing is often used to assist communication development and to attempt to reduce frustrations caused by limited language skills.
It can be used in conjunction with any other form of communication strategy such as speech therapy, use of visuals or Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). Participants will leave with the skills and knowledge of nearly 100 signs for everyday use. The book “Getting started with Key word signing” is included in the price.

Video Modelling for Social Development Intervention – WOW NEW PRICE!!!
Video modelling is an observational learning method that can be used to teach social and communication skills to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other disabilities.
In this hands-on workshop we will look at social understanding, video modelling methodology, iModelling Program, video modelling methods, video modelling in practice and engage in filming and editing practical. Participants will practice using the iModelling app (video modelling application) and will get the application donated.
