Photographic Competition for Mental Health Week 2010

The Mental Health Coalition of South Australia are looking for images for a range of posters to be displayed in the community during Mental Health Week, 10-16th October 2010.

Images need to be 3 or more people and focus on one of the following categories:

  • Children
  • Teens
  • Young Adults
  • Parents
  • Men
  • Women
  • Seniors
  • Celebrating Sexuality
  • Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders
  • Multicultural
  • Workforce blue and white collar
  • Rural
  • Cald
  • Seniors

Each person in the image needs to have filled in a photographic release form for the entry to be valid.

Entrants will also need to complete this entry form.

Entries close 23rd July 2010.

Focus on Ability short film competition

Non-profit disability employment agency Nova Employment is holding a short film competition. Entries will focus on the ability of people with a disability.

There are three categories:

  • Open entrant (open to anybody, of any age, anywhere in the world) – winner receives $5000 in prize money, runner-up receives $1500.
  • Australian Schools – winning school receives $5000, runner-up receives $1500.
  • Individual (for Australian school students) – winner receives $1500, runner-up receives $500.

Videos will be uploaded to the website on July 12 and viewers can vote online for their favourite video. Ten voters chosen at random will win an Apple iPod.

The video with the most online votes in each category will be declared the winner. Entries close June 30 2010.

They are holding a competition to choose the slogan for their re-designed website. You can win an iPod touch.

Poetry Competition: Open Your Mind!

As part of Mental Health Week a Poetry Competition is jointly run by the SA Writers’ Centre and the Mental Health Coalition. This competition is open to everyone (not just those who have lived experience from a mental illness).

The winners will be announced at the Mental Health Words Evening on Thursday the 14th of October, 2010 at 6pm at the SA Writers’ Centre.

The winners will receive a hand painted canvas with the words of their poems as part of the painting’s imagery by artist and Ticket Writer Sue Morrizi.

Entries close 31st August, 2010.

Young Carers Online Competition

Carers Australia are proud to announce the Young Carers Online Competition! Entry is open to all young people under the age of 26, who are young carers or who have been young carers. You can win one of 6 $250 JB Hi-Fi vouchers.

All you need to do is answer in 25 words or less, if you had 5 minutes with a politician, what would you tell them about the needs of young carers? Young carers are eligible to enter as many times as they like.

To enter, go to www.reachout.com/carers. The competition closes on Sunday May 9 2010 at midnight (EST). Competition terms and conditions are available on the website.

The competition is a partnership between Carers Australia and the Inspire Foundation (who host the Reach Out website). All entrants have the opportunity to receive a Young Carers Kit. Winners of the JB Hi-Fi vouchers will be determined by a judging panel that includes one young carer. All entries will be complied into a report to be presented to government.

Autism SA: Win a ride in a Ford V8 Supercar!

Autism SA are holding a free competition for young people with ASD to win a free ride in a Ford V8 Supercar Ute!

Prize includes

Luxury coach travel to and from Flinders St Bus depot in Adelaide to Mallala Motor Sport Park on Thursday March 11.

Ride around the racetrack in a Ford V8 Supercar Ute for each winner and their carer.

Food and non-alcoholic drinks provided.

Free giveaways.

To enter

  • Your child must be aged between 15-18
  • Must be registered for services with Autism SA
  • Must be able to attend on Thursday March 11, 2010
  • Each winner must be accompanied by one carer.
