Communities in Control Conference 2011

May 30 & 31, 2011

Moonee Valley Racing Club, Members Gate 1
McPherson Street, Moonee Ponds, Melbourne VIC

Communities in Control is the biggest annual gathering of community sector workers, volunteers and supporters – each year bringing together a stellar list of speakers and 1300 delegates to listen, debate, network, exchange tips and strategies, and recharge.

Since its inception in 2003 the conference (which is now described by many as a ‘movement’) has provided a platform and outlet for the very premise of Communities in Control – that for communities to survive and thrive, they must be in charge of their own destinies; that they must be given practical support to set their own priorities, design their own approaches, and create their own solutions; and that to do this will ultimately create safer, healthier communities.

Cost: $298 (inc GST).

Significant discounts are also available for group bookings (10 or more).

For more information call 03 9320 6800 or visit www.ourcommunity.com.au/cic2011.

Patient Centred Care: Fact or Fiction?

Consumers and Carers at the heart of healthcare.

Thursday, 14 April 2011

Education Development Centre
4 Milner Street
Hindmarsh SA 5007

There is a lot of talk about “patient-centred care” and the concept is a fundamental driver for change in the health care system. But what does it actually mean in practice and who is driving these changes?

This year’s conference, “Patient Centred Care: what do consumers want? Consumers and Carers at the Heart of Health Care”, will engage participants in discussion around health reform at State and Federal levels, specifically about what patient centred care means for health consumers.

What can we learn from consumers about our health care system? What needs to change for health care to be truly patient centred?

The Conference will welcome up to 200 consumers and carers including HCA members, health consumers and carers, health consumer organisations, key HCA stakeholders and South Australians from all walks of life and will put consumers in the driving seat as leaders for change in our health system.

For more information contact HCA on 08 8231 4169 or email info@hcasa.asn.au.
