Carers SA River Murray and Mallee Carers invites you to attend these free courses for Carers.

The Carer Journey

9.30am to 12pm

Registrations from 9am

  • Explore the concept of caring as a journey, with six common stages
  • Identify and share your own experience of the carer journey
  • Learn appropriate strategies and tools to support each stage of your caring journey

Manual Handling

1pm to 3.30pm

Registrations from 12.45pm

  • Back care and posture
  • Basic manual handling
  • Preventing falls
  • Safe home environments
  • Aids for daily living

This is a practical, hands-on workshop. Please wear comfortable clothing and comfortable low-heeled shoes.

Equal Opportunity Commission Training Courses Available

A limited number of places are available for the following courses:

17 February, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm – Workplace bullying, discrimination and harassment ($145)

This workshop for staff identifies appropriate and inappropriate behaviours and some low key, but effective, ways of intervening early. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe what is meant by discrimination, harassment and bullying
  • Understand its impact in the workplace
  • Understand their rights and responsibilities
  • Know what to do and where to go for help

1 April, 9:30am – 1:00 pm – Advanced skills for managers and supervisors ($145)

This workshop is designed to enhance the skills of experienced managers and supervisors in the early intervention of disputes and complaint handling. The workshop assumes a sound knowledge of equal opportunity laws and focuses on preventing inappropriate behaviour in the workplace. By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained the following skills:

  • Early intervention in workplace disputes
  • Confidence in dealing with situations of conflict
  • Role modelling respectful behaviours
  • Complaint handling skills
