Brooke and Claire, Occupational Therapy students from the University of South Australia have created a survey on long term exercise for people with a disability:
WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS – Long Term Exercise and Rehabilitation Activities for People with Disabilities. Our names are Brooke and Claire, and we are Occupational Therapy students from the University of South Australia. We are currently undertaking a community development project aiming to find out what the barriers are for people with disabilities when accessing long term exercise or rehabilitation activities in the community. If you are a person with a disability, or support someone with a disability, please take a couple of minutes to fill out our short survey. The answers you provide will be valuable to our project and will hopefully lead to improvement of services in the future for people with disabilities.

AUSTSWIM are excited to announce the launch of their new training workshop Making Aquatics a Terrific Experience “MATE” in South Australia.
Who can attend? Disability support organisations, support carers, support staff, AUSTSWIM teachers, swim school coordinators or anyone interested. Be one of the first to attend this exciting new program!
MATE is an innovative and interactive community seminar aimed at optimising health and wellness opportunities for people with medical conditions and/or disabilities. This seminar promotes aquatic accessibility for all population groups.
This seminar has been designed to provide participants with the information, skills and confidence to take a person with a medical condition and/or disability to the pool for recreation activities. Aquatic activities are a valued and significant aspect of the Australian lifestyle. Often what prevents participation for community members is not lack of ability but lack of opportunity. The MATE seminar is not about swimming strokes; it is a guide to encouraging and facilitating physical activity in an aquatic environment for people who do not always have the opportunity to participate in aquatic activity.
State Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Saturday February 4th 9.00am-1.00pm. Enrolment fee $70.00.
