The primary aim of this program is to significantly increase community access to new equipment which can be loaned to the patient and carer.

Grants will be made on an application basis to appropriate palliative care and other relevant organisations for the purchase of palliative care aids and equipment to be loaned to palliative care patients and their families and carers for people who choose to remain at home whilst receiving palliative care or residents in other community settings including but not limited to residential aged care facilities.

In South Australia $261,700 is available for the purchase of relevant equipment (items must be listed on Schedule 3 of the GST and Medical aids and appliances Guide).

Community Small Grants are available as part of Pap Smear Awareness Week (PSAW). SA Cervix Screening Program, in collaboration with Cancer Council SA, provide grants to support community and health professionals to conduct promotional activities that link women to screening services within their local communities.

The grant will support a community member undertaking a project/resourcing opportunity that assists in their growth, or provides a benefit to the community. The Grants are only available to individuals. Only individuals who are either disadvantaged, disengaged, or have a disability and are aged between 17 and 65 are eligible to apply. A monetary grant of up to a maximum of $2,000 will be available to a successful applicant.

The Round is open from Monday 25 October and closes on Friday 26 November 2010.
