3 of Adelaide’s music & mental health project bands come together for a National Social Inclusion Week event on Wednesday, November 23rd from 1-3pm at the SA Folk Centre, corner of George St & South Road, Thebarton. Come and celebrate with The JMG Band, The Pulgi Band and Bach 2 Blues! A FREE event.
Social Inclusion Week is about caring, connection, inclusion and celebration, inspiring individuals and groups to look beyond their own ‘backyards’ and engage with those around them. In coming to terms with the effects of mental illness, people have used a range of approaches, including involvement in creative arts projects that encourage self expression, social interaction, teamwork and a sense of achievement through personal skill development.

Places now available in the Soundwaves African Drumming sessions! – your chance to ‘drum up a storm’ in these FREE disability friendly workshops led by Andrew Ellis.
SoundWaves is looking for more participants for their African Drumming Workshops. These workshops are held fortnightly on Saturday mornings and teach African hand drumming rhythms to people with disabilities. The goal is to develop skills and confidence so participants can get up on stage and play at the monthly SoundWaves Events. The workshops are free and are held at the disability accessible facilities of the SA Folk Centre. There are also a number of places available for participants without disabilities, if they share the general goals of the workshops and eventually would like to play at the SoundWaves Events.
Participation in these workshops is by prior arrangement only. Please contact workshop coordinator Andrew Ellis on 0419 821 985 for further details.
