Tony Doyle has sent this information and call for interest regarding the SoundWaves African Drumming Workshops:
The SoundWaves African Drumming Workshops have been cancelled while we re-assess how best to achieve the goals of the SoundWaves project.
SoundWaves is a program specifically aimed at developing the skills and confidence of people with musical aspirations to the level where they can perform at our monthly SoundWaves Events. While the Drumming Workshops have been well attended by people looking for recreation on day activity programs, we have not received sufficient participants with the ability and desire to progress towards public performance.
We are now calling for expressions of interest from people with disabilities and those associated with disability communities to attend the SoundWaves Drumming Workshops. Depending on demand, we are prepared to change the day and time of the workshops to accommodate the majority of those interested, including those who work in the day.
We are asking people interested in learning African Drumming to contact Andrew Ellis on 0419 821 985, or Tony Doyle on 8212 0390 to discuss the program and to determine when would be the best times to run the workshops.
Please note that the rest of the SoundWaves program will continue as usual, with the Guitar and Singing Workshops on the third Thursday in the month and the SoundWaves Events on the last Thursday in the month. African Drumming will return at a date to be announced.
