Take Up Thy Bed & Walk

Closing 24 November 2012

Creator, Gaelle Mellis, is truly a trailblazer and has made an enormous contribution to South Australian arts as both a theatre designer and a disability activist.

Take Up Thy Bed & Walk is a subversive performance about women, disability and fiction. It starts out from the portrayals of disabled women in 19th century literature and ends up at the most infamous intervention by a major recording artist with disability within popular culture. Made collaboratively by a creative team that includes former members of acclaimed theatre-makers Ladykillers and an all-star cast, Take Up Thy Bed & Walk will be an intelligent, beautiful, unsettling and humorous performance event not to be missed.

Accessible, Audio described, Auslan interpreted, Guide dogs, Companion card

Waterside, 11 Nile St, Port Adelaide
